Auden sees Bruce and suddenly wants to grow up. So he puts away his childish things and gives away his dogs. But is that really how one grows up? And what does that mean -- to grow up?

Funded in part by a grant from the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance

The Houston theater has had a hard couple of weeks. On Friday, September 30, we lost a theater icon -- Bettye Fitzpatrick. She was an Alley Theatre Company member for decades and was instrumental in forming that institution into what it is today. Next, we lost a rising young star on Saturday, October 1. Sofia Mendez had talent, personality and spunk. She was featured in our April reading of Failure: A Love Story. Lastly, one of Wordsmyth Theater's strongest supporters and contributors died on Monday, October 3. Susan Mauzy, a donor to several Houston theaters, will also be missed.

Playwright Lanford Wilson died March 24 at 73 years of age. Lanford was not just an important figure in American theatre --  he was also a mentor to the founding members of Wordsymth who met in his class at the University of Houston in 2007. We will remember him fondly. Lanford was a wonderful teacher and a gentle soul.
